Michelle Davis
Director/Owner of Miami Valley Ballet Theatre, Dance Instructor


Michelle graduated from Miami University in 1996 with a B.S. in Elementary Education, certified to teach grades 1 through 8. She taught fifth grade for four years at Weigel Elementary in the Northwest Local School District. After marrying and her first daughter  Lydia, Michelle decided to stay at home and be a mom. In May 2001, Michelle  completed her Masters in Art of Teaching with a focus in Biology from Miami University. Shortly after, she had her second daughter, Mallory.

Michelle began her dance training at the age of 3 at Janet Carleton's School of Dance in Mt. Healthy. She studied for many years in classes and summer programs. She trained under instructors from England as well as soloist from the Cincinnati Ballet. Michelle focused on Ballet and Tap and continued through college taking courses dealing with modern pieces as well as classic ballet. 

Michelle became the owner/director of Miami Valley Ballet Theatre in 2007. Miami Valley Ballet Theatre's season consists of an annual winter production of Nutcracker at the Fairfield Community Arts Center, Fairfield, OH  as well as a spring performance. Past company work includes Cinderella, The White Act of Swan Lake, Handel's Messiah (an original piece), Sleeping Beauty and excerpts from Annie

After a ten year break from dance, Michelle met Kevin Bell of MVBT when Lydia, a Tanze student, auditioned to dance in the Nutcracker in 2003.
Since then, Michelle has become involved in all aspects of ballet, becoming a soloist, making costumes, and returning to teach. As an educator and mom, she believes in a strong connection between music, movement and cognitive development. Michelle has seen this development in her own children and looks forward to spending a year with your children, watching them learn and grow through dance!

 

 

 
 
 
 
 

 Demetrius Klein
Owner of Demetrius Klein Dance Company

 An established  presence in the world of modern dance, Demetrius Klein has made an impact both nationally and internationally as a critically acclaimed dancer and choreographer.  With his highly personal voice and his namesake company, Mr. Klein continues to break new ground, taking audiences on a exciting journey through the world of dance.

Since forming the Demetrius Klein Dance Company in 1987, Mr. Klein has produced, been produced and presented a large assortment of movement pieces in many different venues.  His work, described by the Village Voice as, "fully wrought and interpreted, beautifully phrased, precisely weighted and brilliantly executed", has appeared at the Merce Cunningham studio, Mulberry Street Theatre and Performance Space 122 in New York City as well as in the Region Languedoc-Roussillon, France.

Sandy
Sandy's School of Dance


Sandy began dancing at the age of nine at Downie School of Dance under the direction of Nellie Lou Smith. By the age of eleven, she was assistant teaching and at the age of sixteen she began teaching her own classes at Morgan, Welch and Frost Elementary Schools. Sandy started her own business in September of 1991, on Pleasant Avenue in Fairfield, Ohio. She has taught enrichment classes at the Joint Vocational School in Butler County, South Elementary School and Fairfield Senior High School. She has also choreographed numbers in several Fairfield High School Variety Shows.

Since 1980, Sandy has traveled to many cities to study dance including Los Angeles, Dallas, Nashville, Chicago, and New York. She has studied with such teachers as Frank Hatchett, the famous MTV choreographer, Debbie Dee, the former teacher of Savion Glover, Joe Puglisi, who danced along-side John Travolta in "Saturday Night Fever" and Mark Meismer who co-choreographed the Celine Dion show in Las Vegas. Other teachers include Buster Cooper, Stephen Boyd, Bill DeRico, Janice Berringer, Al Gilbert and most recently, Jackie Sleight, Dave Carter, Tina D'Amato, Cory Finn, Joe Loera, Cindy Ricalde and Jocelyn Dowling who can be seen in the movie "Chicago".

 

 

 
  
 
 

African American Theatre Company of Butler County


The African American Theatre Company of Butler County (AATC/BC) was founded in April of 2002 by Dan and Ruth Britt of Hamilton with support from Greater Hamilton Civic Theatre. It has evolved into a group of actors and volunteer supports staff committed to bringing greater diversity to stage productions in the local area, and to presenting African American plays.

In the past year and a half, the AATC/BC has held free weekly acting classes at Tanze Performing Arts Studio, and has presented dramatic scenes and original one-act plays at venues in Hamilton.
